Recognising MND Earlier, Supporting People Sooner

It’s good to hear that dentists, GPs and other healthcare professionals are being offered training to help them recognise potential early signs of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Dignity Access regularly supports clients with MND, which can be difficult to diagnose in its early stages. It is hoped that the RACE to Diagnose programme, launched by the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, will improve outcomes through earlier access to treatment by providing guidance to professionals who may encounter patients showing early signs of the illness.

Early diagnosis can also give people with MND and their families more time to understand the situation, plan for home adaptations, access the right support and make decisions about managing their future.

Following on from this, Dignity Access has been invited as one of a select number of relevant exhibitors to the MND Association’s Community of Practice Annual Networking event in Birmingham this October.

The day will focus on holistic care, from diagnosis onwards, with over 200 health and social care professionals attending for a full day of the latest information, knowledge and networking opportunities.
